2021Academic Year Short Course Review「The Oder Of Nature Geometrical Design Principles」

From April 5th to April 9th, under the guidance of the instructor of the Academy of Traditional Arts, Ramiz Sabbagh, the students of the China Center of the Academy of Traditional Arts of the British Crown Prince Foundation completed the one-week traditional art course "Order of Nature in the form of online teaching: The Principles of Geometric Design".
This unit guides students to think about the intrinsic meaning of geometry in the natural order and to appreciate the philosophy of geometry. The entire learning process leads students to focus on the study of six-fold, eight-fold, twelve-fold, and ten-fold symmetry and their corresponding proportional systems, and builds their understanding of design principles. Students also identify these patterns in specific artistic and architectural elements. This can then be applied to other craft course units.
Course completion includes the following:
Advance from preliminary motifs to more complex patterns to deepen understanding of geometric patterns;
Develop a sophisticated understanding of six-fold and eight-fold symmetry, as well as regular and semi-regular grid pattern systems;
Encourage students to visualize the inherent rhythm of patterns and apply the geometric rhythms conveyed in visually observed patterns to improve their perception of color in painting and geometric model making;
Learn how to make patterns on a sketchbook step-by-step;
Develop methods for practicing color and styling in a sketchbook and mastering color and sample experiments.
